Mission and Vision
Having a well-defined vision and a clearly articulated mission statement are crucial components of volunteer leadership. A vision answers the questions, 'Where are we going?' and 'Where does God want us to be in five years?' Vision is determining what you want the future to look like for your church. A mission answers the questions, 'How are we going to get there?' and 'Why are we doing what we are doing?' Your mission defines who you are called to reach, what impact you want to have, and how you are going to achieve these things.
Recruiting
The process of finding volunteers for various areas of service within the church. Recruiting is more than simply asking someone to volunteer; it includes exciting people about joining you in ministry, and then guiding people into the ministry role that best fits their gifts and personality.
Retention
The ability to maintain and develop volunteers for long-term service. This includes developing a strategy for identifying the right ministry for each volunteer, training, motivating, encouraging, and appreciating those serving with you.
Risk Management
Each year, hundreds of churches experience devastating accidents...injuries...crimes...even child sexual abuse. And more than half of those tragedies could have been prevented or minimized-if proper precautions had been taken.
