As we move into summer, I hope you are giving yourself permission to rest. To recover. To be refreshed spiritually…emotionally…and physically. Having just finished a busy year, our brains and our bodies are tired. Even if you can’t take an extended vacation, look at your summer calendar now (before it fills in even more!) and schedule some days for yourself.
Maybe you will spend an afternoon at the library or the bookstore. Maybe you’ll pick up coffee and head to the park. Maybe you will take a day trip and do some shopping or visit some sites. Or, maybe the best thing is to block out a day to stay home, read, nap, and be as lazy as you please.
Whatever you choose, just be sure you choose. Be intentional about unwinding and relaxing, because it won’t just happen. How can you serve and care for others if you don’t first serve and care for yourself?
